Pennsylvania enacts new truancy legislation

Education Law Center's Statement on Truancy Legislation:  HB1907

Pennsylvania’s newly enacted truancy legislation, adopted last week, made significant changes to the state’s truancy laws.  The new law requires schools to convene individualized student and parent conferences before passing truancy matters to the courts. The new legislation also increases the fines and maintains jail time requirements, albeit at three days instead of five.
