School-Age Special Education Services

We represent children and students of all ages, from elementary school, middle school, high school – through graduation or age 21. It is the responsibility of a student’s home school district or charter school to identify children who are eligible for special education, through a process called child find. Each eligible child has an individual set of educational needs. If your child is eligible for an IEP under the IDEA, the school district or charter school is required to program for your child’s individual needs in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). If your child has a disability or a medical problem and is not eligible for an IEP, he or she may be eligible for accommodations in a 504 Plan.  Also in Pennsylvania, your gifted child is entitled to enrichment activities in a GIEP.
